Edit a user
By editing a user in the dashboard system, you can update contact details, modify access permissions, and delegate user management responsibilities, offering a flexible and efficient way to manage user accounts.
Edit an existing user
- Click on your username on the top right-hand corner of the dashboard.
- From the drop-down menu, select Manage users
- A pop-up window will display, allowing you to modify all the previous information and options for the user under the tabs 'Account', 'Workflow', 'Location', 'Publishing', 'Security', and 'Custom Fields'.
- Once you've edited the information, click the Update User button to ensure the changes are saved.
Accounts tab
- 'User type': Change the user type to 'Team member', 'Client', or 'Admin' that you want for this user. See Overview of User Types for more information regarding those choices.
- 'Name or company': Change the name displayed on their account.
- 'Email': Change the email address associated with the account. An email address can only be used for one Sendible account.
- 'Phone number': You can update this field if the phone number has changed.
- 'Username': The username can be changed but must be unique and can only contain text or numbers.
- 'Password': Change the password for the account. This can be done to either block or allow access to an account.
- 'User colour': Change the colour associated with the user in the dashboard.
- 'Profile Image': To change the user's avatar, click on the image icon. Ensure that the files are in .jpg or .png format.
Workflow tab
- Use the 'Managed by' feature to change the user who oversees this account, enabling them to access the dashboard and effectively manage a specific number of dashboards.
- 'Maintain default access structure': You can change this to maintain or disregard the hierarchy.
- 'Also has access to': Add or remove accounts you want this user to have access to. The user will be able to view all correspondence on the selected accounts.
- 'Permissions': Permissions groups are set up in a separate menu from the 'Manage users' view. You can change the permission group to apply to this user.
Caution: Permissions groups are not available on all subscription plans.
- 'Needs approval before publishing': Change this from 'Yes' to 'No' or vice versa. When the 'Yes' option is chosen, it will bring up a list of users to select from. The account chosen will need to approve all of this user's messages before posting.
Location tab
- 'Time zone': You can change the country from the first drop-down menu or change the specific time zone from the second drop-down menu.
- 'Language': Change the desired language from the drop-down menu.
- 'Clock format': Change whether you want to use a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.
Publishing tab
- 'Default URL shortener': Change whether or not to use the Bitly URL shortener or set it to ''do not shorten'.
- 'bit.ly access token' and 'bitly pro domain': If you already have a Bitly account, you can integrate this with Sendible by adding your Bitly login, Bitly key and, if applicable, your Bitly domain. Please see the Connect your Bitly account article for more information.
Caution: Adding your own Bitly account is not available on all subscription plans.
- 'Rich text editor': You can select whether to have the Rich Text Editor available when composing posts. Please note that rich text formatting options are not supported by most social media sites, so these options usually only apply to WordPress blogs.
- 'Pause scheduled messages': You can pause or unpause the scheduled messages. Messages scheduled during the time this is set to 'On' will still show as 'Sent' to prevent them from being sent all at once when this is turned back to 'Off'—but they will not be sent to be published nor appear as undelivered. To reschedule these messages, please go to your ‘Sent’ view and use the ‘Repost’ option.
- 'Default filter': You can change which filter is used by default when displaying various views in the dashboard. This is set to 'My user' by default but can be set to ‘All Users’ to show all dashboards. The messages displayed when ‘All Users’ is selected will depend on which dashboards the user has permission to view based on the user hierarchy.
Security tab
'Valid IP addresses': For increased security, you can restrict a user's account access by specifying the IP addresses from which they can access Sendible. You can add multiple IP addresses but not a range.
Custom fields
Caution: Custom fields are not available on all subscription plans.
If custom fields have been set up for users, you can edit the requested information in the listed fields.
