Add an Instagram geolocation tag to posts
Using location tags in Instagram posts helps increase visibility by making your content discoverable to users searching or browsing that location.
Note: Instagram's geolocation feature only allows a single location tag per post; adding multiple location tags to a single post isn't supported.
How to add an Instagram geolocation tag
- After creating your Instagram post, click the add location icon.
- Begin typing the location and choose it from the suggestions.
- The behaviour of the location results will work by displaying the most local location first. If this isn't the result you are looking for, you can scroll for other results or specify your search further.
Note: When you've added the tag you wish to use, the pop-up will close, and the icon will appear blue within the toolbar, which signals that the tag has been added.
- When your message is ready, click on the post preview icon. This will allow you to see the location tag added to the message, allowing you to review how it appears before scheduling.
- If you wish to change or remove the tag, click on the location icon and select the bin/trash icon to remove the tag.
