Set up dynamic fields
Dynamic fields allow you to publish one post across multiple profiles with information specific to a user or profile. They work in a way similar to placeholders in an email campaign.
You can use dynamic fields for users to personalise posts when sending the same message across multiple social profiles—e.g., the user's first name, city, or services offered.
A common use of dynamic fields for profiles is customising the same message for different clients or locations—e.g., automatically including the name of a location or the business phone number when publishing a post to multiple profiles.
Set up a dynamic field
- Go to Settings > Manage Users
- Select Dynamic Fields from the menu on the left-hand side of the page, and then choose Users or Profiles from the menu on the right. The process for adding dynamic fields is the same regardless of whether you add them for users or profiles.
-
Then, click the New Field button.
- Here, you can enter a field title for your reference and make the field mandatory or not.
-
You can select the 'Field Type' from the drop-down menu. The options are Text, Textarea, Password, List, Date, Time, URL, and Numeric.
Tip: We recommend choosing the following types: Text, URL, and Numeric. -
You can also set the order of your fields, which changes how they appear when managing users or profiles.
- Once you’re happy with the settings, click the Save button.
- Once the field is set up, you can edit or delete it from the dynamic fields area of the company settings.
Using dynamic fields
Once you have your dynamic fields set up and the desired data entered for each user or profile, you're ready to put them to use.
Using a dynamic field for a user
- You can add or edit a dynamic field on the 'Dynamic fields' tab when creating a new user or managing an existing user.
-
You can also add new fields from this area by clicking the New Field button. The field will then be available to use with other users.
Using dynamic fields for a profile
- Go to Profiles+ > Profiles.
-
Select the three dots for the selected profile, then Tags from the options available.
-
You can then add the necessary information to the field you have created.
Searching for users based on dynamic fields
Once you've added information to dynamic fields for your users, you can perform advanced searches based on this information.
- Go to Settings > Manage users.
- Click the Advanced link. The dynamic fields you previously set up will be displayed.
-
Add the information you want to search and click the Search button. Any users with matching information in their dynamic Fields will be displayed.
