Overview of time zones and posts
To ensure your posts are published at the right time, Sendible provides several options for setting time zones. By understanding how those are used and following best practices for setting and managing time zones, you can ensure that your posts are published at the right time and avoid scheduling issues.
Things to know
- Find the time zone in your dashboard under Settings > Time zone.
- The time zone will display the current time on your dashboard and impacts the time posts are published.
- If you manage clients/profiles with audiences in different time zones, setting up user accounts for each time zone is recommended.
- If you manage clients/profiles with audiences in different time zones from one dashboard, Optimal Times may not be relevant.
Set the time zone for your dashboard
When you first set up your Sendible account, you will be asked to set your dashboard time zone. This is the time zone that will be used to display all activity on your dashboard, including scheduled posts, messages, and some analytics.
- Go to Settings > Time zone.
- Click the Time zone drop-down and choose the appropriate location. If needed, choose the exact time zone from the second drop-down list.
Note: Location-based time zones will reflect Daylight Saving Time changes, if applicable.
- The option to 'apply this time zone to your scheduled messages' will reschedule the times for all posts waiting to be sent. It will not affect previously published posts.
For example, when the time zone is changed from London to New York, a post scheduled next Thursday for 3 p.m. London time will be rescheduled for 11 a.m. New York time when this option is set to 'Yes'. If it is set to 'No', the post will be rescheduled for 3 p.m. New York time.
Note: This setting will reset to 'No' every time you open the time zone settings. This is expected as it is a one-time adjustment for existing scheduled posts when the time zone is changed.
- Don't forget to click the 'Apply' button to save your changes.
Different users with different time zones on your account
If you have multiple users on your Sendible account, each user can have their own time zone settings. This will affect how posts appear on the dashboard if they were scheduled by another user who has set a different time zone.
For example, if a post was scheduled for 10 a.m. by a user in New York, but your dashboard time zone is set to the London time zone, the post will appear on your dashboard as scheduled for 3 p.m.
To ensure that posts publish at the intended time, it's essential to communicate with other users on your account about time zone settings. If needed, you can also adjust individual posts by editing the post and changing the scheduled time.
Computer time zone vs dashboard time zone
It's important to note that your computer's time zone may differ from your Sendible dashboard time zone. This can affect how posts appear on your dashboard if you create or schedule posts from different devices. For example, if you create a post on your laptop while travelling in a different time zone, the post may appear on your dashboard as scheduled for a different time than expected.
To avoid this issue, it's recommended to use a consistent time zone across all devices and to check your scheduled posts on your dashboard to ensure they are scheduled for the correct time.
FAQs
Can I set a different time zone for each user?
Yes! If you are managing your clients from your account and have switched to the client's dashboard, you can change their time zone settings as described below. This will cause all items on the client's dashboard to appear in that time zone.
- To adjust the time on a client's account, click on the name displayed in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard, as shown in the following image. Then select Manage users.
- After that, edit the user, and on the Location tab, choose the time zone that is appropriate for that user.
- Then click the Update User button to save the time zone for the account.
