Facebook Protect - Facebook & Instagram posts failing because of action needed on Facebook admin accounts
Meta is enhancing their Facebook users' account security to shield them from bad actors by launching an initiative called "Facebook Protect". This will automatically prompt users in their Facebook app to take action to further secure their assets & accounts by completing "Page Publishing Authorization".
More and more users are reporting this, and Meta's aim is to expand this requirement globally over upcoming months. You can find out more about Facebook Protect on their more info page here: Facebook Protect.
This will affect Facebook and Instagram profiles and the ability to post to these profiles as, once Meta has enrolled you for Facebook Protect and action is required on your account, your ability to publish posts to your Facebook and Instagram profiles will be lost until you complete the necessary steps on your Facebook app.
Facebook posts will be failing with the error message: You can not access the app till you log in to www.facebook.com and follow the instructions given
Instagram posts will be failing with the error message: Your Instagram Business session key has expired. Please reconnect your Instagram Business account
To avoid any unnecessary issues with your posts, we recommend you set up 2-Factor-Authentication and complete the Page Publishing Authorization before Meta takes action on your account. This way, your account will not be locked until you take action.
If you have found posts that have failed with either of the above error messages, please make sure to log into your Facebook app and follow the prompts to unlock your account. Once you have, the related Facebook and Instagram profiles should work again as expected.
