[Resolved] Facebook Failing To Send "Looks like Facebook put a restriction on this app"

Update:

Facebook have confirmed that they have pushed a fix live to address the issue and from what we can see in terms of failure rates for Facebook posts, this does look to have fully resolved the issue with posts failing with the error message "Looks like Facebook put a restriction on this app" as well as posts being duplicated.

 

Next steps:

For posts where you received a bounced notification, we'd recommend that you double check the posts weren't actually published as Facebook was returning this error in a some cases where the posts had actually been published.

We have received an update from Facebook who has advised that this is an issue on their platform. 

Next steps:

Sadly, we are unable to control when this issue will be resolved on Facebook's end; however, we will be monitoring this closely. I am very sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.

Customers have reported that posts sent to Facebook seem to be rejected with the error "Looks like Facebook put a restriction on this app."

We are currently investigating this issue to determine the route cause and whether this is a fault on the Facebook platform or something controllable on the Sendible side. 

 

What is the issue?

When sending posts to Facebook from the Sendible platform a bounce message is intermittently being returned from Facebook stating: 

 

"Looks like Facebook put a restriction on this app" 

 

We are currently investigating the route cause of this and so far have been unable to identify any limitations that Facebook have applied to the Sendible App. 

 

So far this seems like an intermittent issue and is being returned from Facebook directly, at times the posts are arriving successfully on the Facebook platform but the error message is still sent. 

 

For those customers affected by this please check the post that has been returned within the Bounce section of the Sendible platform directly on Facebook, as resending the post may result in duplicates.

 

Are there other areas being affected by this issue?

At this time, no other areas are affected. Should this change, we will look to update you.
