[Removed] Pinterest - Issues when trying to Add or Reconnect Pinterest accounts - Updated 27/10/2020

Monday 26th October 2020 4 pm BST

We have now removed Pinterest from the dashboard to prevent confusion. We are continuing to follow up with Pinterest in the hopes of being able to get our integration back as soon as possible and will provide further updates as and when we have them.

Following continued discussions with Pinterest, they have advised that unfortunately they don't intend to reverse the change that is preventing our users from adding, reconnecting or, as we've since confirmed, posting to Pinterest boards.

We have been in contact with Pinterest in the past few months to gain access to their new API to prevent our customers from losing access to Pinterest. Due to a long backlog of requests, Pinterest hasn't been able to answer our appeal so far.

We are continuing to prioritise this in hopes that we will get access back as soon as possible but, ultimately, this is in Pinterest's hands.

We know how valuable our Pinterest integration has been to some of our customer's workflows but, due to these circumstances, we've had to make the hard decision to remove our Pinterest integration from the dashboard for the time being until Pinterest accepts our request.

What are the next steps?

We will remove Pinterest from the dashboard soon to prevent confusion.

We will not be deleting existing Pinterest profiles as we're hoping to bring back our integration as soon as possible, which should allow you to reconnect them later.

The Pinterest profiles you have set up will still count towards the overall number of social profiles that you've added to your account though. You can always delete them and re-add them in the future if needed.

Before you do delete any Pinterest boards, we suggest exporting posts into a CSV file as this can normally be uploaded to another third party if needed and can also be opened and adjusted in tools like Microsoft Excel or a Google Spreadsheet.

To export your Pinterest posts as a CSV or HTML file:

  1. Go to  'Scheduled' or ‘Queued’ under the Engage area.
  2. Select your Pinterest board/s from the channel filter.
  3. Click the ‘Select All’ option to select all Pinterest posts.
  4. Click 'More' and then select the CSV or HTML option.

Please see this short video which will walk you through this:

If you do need help with this though, please do submit a ticket and well be happy to help with exporting the messages or deleting your Pinterest profiles on your behalf.

What can I do if I still need to manage Pinterest accounts from a dashboard?

To help you, we partnered with a platform called Tailwind, whose major focus is integrating with Pinterest and they are offering all Sendible users a 10% discount. Here's how to get it:

  1. If you don't already have a Tailwind account, sign up using Sendible's unique link here: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=1730596&m=50947&b=768274
  2. If you do have a Tailwind account, visit this URL to apply the 10% discount when you're ready to upgrade: https://www.tailwindapp.com/dashboard/upgrade-plus/SAVE10

We appreciate this is far from ideal, but we hope it might be a suitable alternative in the meantime.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've continued to investigate what's causing that is preventing connecting to and reconnecting Pinterest boards.

We have confirmed that this is happening due changes to access that Pinterest have applied to the App that we use to integrate with them.

We have been in touch with Pinterest to discuss this further but, as yet, haven't been able to confirm with them that they will be able to resolve this.

We are continuing to follow up with them to see what if any actions are needed by us and thank you for your patience whilst we continue to do so.

As soon as we have more information, we will be updating this page again.

Customers have reported being unable to add or reconnect Pinterest boards. This issue started before our we transitioned from Services to Profiles yesterday and is unrelated to this update. There have been reports of experiencing issues directly on Pinterest and we are currently investigating what the exact cause of this issue is.

What is the issue?

After you've given authorisation to Sendible to retrieve the boards from your Pinterest account, you'll see the following error after being directed back to Sendible and before you can select a Pinterest board:

At this stage, attempting to add the board again will not resolve the issue.

Are there other areas being affected by this issue?

The only other area this could affect is posting to Pinterest and, at this stage, this does not look to be affected in any way. This issue is currently only affecting the authentication process with Pinterest which prevents adding Pinnterest boards or reconnecting existing Pinterest Profiles.

Next steps:

We are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible. I am very sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.

If you have any questions with regards to this issue or concerns, please feel free to submit a ticket, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
