Steps to take when your Facebook Page is not listed when reconnecting
This article covers common reasons why your Facebook Page is not appearing when you try to select it when adding or reconnecting a Facebook Page profile.
There are a few different reasons this can happen, so please go through the steps below in the order provided.
Places to check
Check your Facebook Page set-up
One common reason that your Facebook Page may not be shown is due to not having the correct permissions within Facebook or Meta Business Manager. You will need to have the correct permissions on your Page to add it to Sendible.
Identifying your Facebook Page set-up
There are different areas where page role permissions must be checked depending on whether your Page has a Classic or New Page Experience.
How do you know which one you have? If you have an About box on your Page, you have a Classic Page, but if you have an Intro box, your Page is on Facebook's New Page Experience.
Now that you have identified the type of Page you have, you can follow the steps Facebook has provided to check your page role or access.
On a Classic Page, you will need to be an Admin under the Existing Page roles.
On a Page with the New Page Experience, you will need to be listed under the People with Facebook access.
Check your Sendible set-up
Once you’ve confined that you have the correct permissions within Facebook, you’ll need to reconnect a Facebook Page to ensure you have granted Sendible the necessary access to your Pages.
Head over to the article Add a Facebook Page profile to double-check that all the Facebook Pages and permissions are authorised correctly to publish posts to Facebook.
If you are adding a Facebook Page profile for the first time
- You will be redirected to Facebook and asked to log in to Facebook if you are not already logged in. It can help to use a private/icognito window to do this to make sure that you are logged into the correct Facebook account.
- After logging into an account with access to the relevant Facebook Page, you will see the following screen. Select the Continue As button.
- Next, verify the connection between Sendible and Facebook. Select the Continue option to confirm the connection.
- If any of the permissions are skipped or removed by making changes in the Choose what you allow section on Facebook, you'll see the following message indicating that not all permissions were granted. You must accept all permissions to successfully add the profile.
- If you have a Classic Page, your account must be showing as an Admin. If your account is showing your avatar image, then the Page-based set-up has been used. If a blue briefcase icon is showing then access has been granted through Meta Business Manager (go to Meta Business Manager set-up).
- If you see your account under Page owner, then the Page is managed by Meta Business Manager. To troubleshoot this set-up, jump to the Meta Business Manager Set-up section.
- If you see the message Go to Business Manager to manage this Page at the very top of the Facebook Page, open the Meta Business Manager and navigate to Settings > Page roles > Clients Business Manager under Page owner, as per the image below: For additional troubleshooting steps for all Pages set up as above, see the Additional steps to try section.
If you are adding a Facebook Page after the first time
Adding subsequent Facebook Pages is very similar to adding the first one. The steps are outlined in detail in our Reconnect a Facebook Page profile article and summarized here.
- Go to Profiles > My Profiles and locate the Facebook Page you wish to reconnect.
- Click on the profile's name or the edit icon on the right-hand side.
- Click the Reconnect link.
- Ensure to click Edit settings.
- Next, you must tick the Select all checkbox.
Check your Facebook connection permissions
Connection problems and "unknown" errors while sending posts are frequently brought on by incomplete permissions. To get back on track, follow the steps below.
- Log into the Facebook account that administers the Facebook Page.
- In the top right corner of your screen, click the small drop-down arrow, then select Settings & privacy > Settings. On the left-hand side, scroll down and select Business integrations (to access your Business Integration settings, Click here). You will find these settings on your Facebook personal profile, not in the Facebook Page settings, so take note of that.
- Head over to the Sendible app and click view and edit
- You must ensure that all Facebook Pages are checked in every section of the pop-up window, as seen below. It might be necessary to expand each section by selecting See all Pages.
- Ensure to click save after checking the box next to each Pages entry.
Try reconnecting or refreshing your Facebook Page after that is done. If you cannot (re)connect your Page follow the steps below.
Check the Sendible apps on your Facebook Profile
All Sendible app permissions must be accepted for Facebook to allow third-party platforms to access your Facebook Pages. To address this, you'll first need to log into the relevant Facebook Profile account and remove the Sendible app from Facebook.
For step-by-step instructions to revoke the Sendible app from Facebook, please see Remove or revoke Sendible's access to social sites. Revoking the Sendible app on Facebook is needed for permissions to be re-accepted.
Once you've removed or revoked access from your Facebook Profile, you'll need to reconnect to your Facebook Page in your Sendible dashboard. For step-by-step instructions to reconnect a Facebook profile, please see Reconnect a Facebook Page profile. To reconnect multiple Facebook Pages with the same person as the Facebook Admin, see the steps in the article Reconnect Facebook Pages in bulk.
Check your Meta Business Manager set-up
Check Page permissions
With this Page set-up, the issue commonly occurs because your Facebook Profile has not been given Admin access via Meta Business Manager for the Page(s) you're looking to add to Sendible. To ensure that you have Admin permissions, please double-check that the permissions are correct.
- Go to Meta Business Manager Settings
- Click on Accounts > Pages.
- Select the Facebook Page you want to add to Sendible.
- Click on the down chevron next to your name to extend the view and check if you have Full control permissions.
To accept app permissions, you must have Administrator access to the Facebook Page(s) you're looking to add to the Business Manager as well.
Please see the article from Facebook's Help Center, What are the different Page roles and what can they do? for more information on Facebook Page roles.
Once you have been given Admin access, the relevant Facebook Page(s) should then appear in the drop-down menu. If not, your permissions need to be re-accepted. Please see Remove or revoke Sendible's access to social sites for steps to revoke the Sendible app on your Facebook Profile.
Check Partner permissions
If you have been granted Partner access to a Facebook Page, you should double-check that the permissions are correct.
- Go to Meta Business Manager Settings
- Click on Accounts > Pages.
- Select the Facebook Page you want to add to Sendible.
- Click on the down chevron next to your name to extend the view and check if you have Manage Page access. If the set-up is correct, it should look something like this:
If you have Manage Page permissions under the Meta Business Manager, please see How Do I Remove or Revoke Access from Social Media Sites? for steps to revoke the Sendible app on Facebook so that permissions can be re-accepted.
If your Agency permissions look slightly different, for example, Admin or Custom, please get in touch with your client and ensure that they give you all permissions.
For more information, please have a look at the following article from Meta, Add People to Assets in Your Business Manager.
Additional steps to try
Sometimes it can be caused by the browser's caching or extensions - please give it a shot and go through the steps outlined in the articles below:
- What troubleshooting steps can I try if something's not working as it should?
- How to reset the browser’s cache
- Try making someone else an Admin on the Facebook Page and re-add the account to Sendible using their logins.
- On infrequent occasions, this can be caused due to location when you're trying to add the profile. In this case, please contact us, and we'll try to add this profile together from other locations using a VPN.
