Instagram handled error messages

This article covers some common reasons why your post might be declined when posting to Instagram Business Profiles and what they mean.

You can find any bounced message in your dashboard by going to Engage > Bounced:

We are listing the most common errors that can cause your messages to be declined by Instagram below:

The Instagram service needs to be reconnected

Error message displayed: Instagram Business session key invalid. Please reconnect your Instagram Business account in Add/Edit Services.

Explanation: This error message indicates that the connection to you Instagram Business service is broken and the service needs to be reconnected.

Solution: Click here to see instructions on how to reconnect your Instagram Business service, then try re-posting your message from your Bounced view.

Permissions issue


Error message displayed: Due to a temporary connection issue with Instagram, we were unable to automatically publish your post. Please try again later

Explanation: This error message is usually displayed when Instagram is having a down time while posting or if permission for the Sendible App which manages the connection to Instagram is revoked.

Solution: Please reconnect your service and try re-posting the message from your Bounced view.

 

Temporary server error at Instagram (400)


Error message displayed: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request.

Explanation: This error comes up when Instagram's server takes too long to respond.

Solution:  Please try posting again a bit later.

Temporary server error at Instagram (500)


Error message displayed: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

Explanation: This error comes up when there is a server error or Instagram's side.

Solution: Please try posting again a bit later.

Temporary unexpected error at Instagram


Error message displayed: An unexpected error has occurred. Please retry your request later.

Explanation: This error message displays when Instagram is experiencing temporary issues.

Solution:  Please try posting again a bit later.

 

Image didn't upload correctly/broken


Error message displayed: Exception of type 'System.Exception' was thrown.

Explanation: This error message is usually displayed when your image or video didn't upload correctly to Instagram.

Solution: Please re-attach your image (or video) and post the message again.

Post couldn't be processed by Instagram


Error message displayed: Could not get associated account ID of Instagram Business account AND/OR access token.

Explanation: This error message is a generic error message indicating that some elements of the post (video/image or text) can't be processed due to technical issues by Instagram.

Solution: Please adjust your post content, until it goes through.
