Add a WordPress blog
Adding a WordPress blog to Sendible offers several benefits, including enhanced user engagement and content integration. You can add your WordPress blog, whether self-hosted (WordPress.org) or hosted by Automattic (WordPress.com). The steps to accomplish that are listed below.
Important: You must be an Administrator, Editor, or Author on the WordPress site to connect the site and publish directly from Sendible.
Add a WordPress profile
- Navigate to Profiles > Add profiles.
- Select the Blogs option from the right-hand menu.
Add a WordPress.com blog
- Choose the option to Add a WordPress.com blog
- Add the URL for your blog and include the
http://
orhttps://
. - Add the username or email and password for your WordPress blog.
- You can select whether you want updates made to your WordPress blog to be automatically sent to a Profile List. Any Profile Lists set up will be displayed in the drop-down list.
Caution: Please make sure your WordPress blog is not added to the Profile List you have selected, as this will post a duplicate of the post to your blog again.
- Once you’ve added all the information, click the Save Settings button. The WordPress profile you've just added will now be available in the Compose Box.
Add a self-hosted WordPress.org blog
Important: The WordPress site must have XML-RPC enabled.
- Choose the self-hosted WordPress.org blog option.
- Add a description for your profile name.
- Add the URL for your blog and include the
http://
orhttps://
.Caution: Please make sure you are adding the root domain (aka home page) URL for your site, even if your blog is on a different page. - You can select whether you want updates made to your WordPress blog to be automatically sent to a Profile List. Any Profile Lists set up will be displayed in the drop-down list.
Caution: Please make sure your WordPress blog is not added to the Profile List you have selected, as this will post a duplicate of the post to your blog again.
- You can choose whether the posts you send to your blog are published automatically or if they are kept as drafts to be published later.
- You can also choose to have an attached image automatically set as the featured image for the post.
- Select whether you want visits to your blog tracked. The data can then be accessed through a module in a custom report.
- You can add default categories or authors that will be displayed for your blog posts.
- Set the UTC offset to match what is set for your site.
Caution: If the time zones don't match, your posts may publish at unexpected times.
- Once you are happy with your setup, click the Save Settings button.
FAQs
Is there a way to control which category my blog post is linked to?
Yes, you can do this by adding tags to your post from within the Compose Box. Sendible will look for categories on your blog that match these tags when publishing your post.
