[Update] X/Twitter API and Feature Sunset - 14 November 2023
Update - 14 November 2023
The update to remove these X/Twitter options has been released. The Monitor area of the dashboard has also been removed as this was dependent on X returning Tweet data.
Update - 07 November 2023
Before our complete transition to X's v2 API, we first had to migrate our v2 app to thoroughly test the necessary updates for authentication and publishing. This is a standard best practice aimed at minimising disruptions for customers who use X's services. It allows us to identify and address any issues we may have missed before the scheduled release of updates on November 14th.
Although X's documentation assured that those transitioning from v1 to v2 would maintain access to the v1 API, our experience on November 7th at 11 AM GMT showed that this was not the case. The only aspect that remained unchanged was the Twitter authentication; no other updates were required.
Since going back to v1 was not an option, our immediate priority was to address the impact on publishing to ensure that Tweets could be sent out as soon as possible. The necessary update was released at 1 PM GMT on the same day.
To fully restore functionality, we would have had to spend a significant amount of time updating additional endpoints to v2. However, with our plans to remove v1 on the 14th, we have regrettably decided not to pursue this course of action.
What does this mean for you?
No new reporting data will be retrieved from today onwards. Twitter social feeds will not load, and there will not be any further Priority Inbox messages imported starting today. Social feeds will be completely removed on the 14th, along with the full set of updates.
As for Priority Inbox messages, you will experience issues when looking to interact with them until the full round of updates is made on the 14th. After this, you will be able to use some interactions, such as replying, but interactions that require tweets to be retrieved, such as retweeting, will be fully removed on the 14th. All Priority Inbox messages for X will be deleted in 3 months from the 14th, following our standard practice.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this earlier-than-planned impact. If you have any questions not addressed in the information above, please feel free to reach out to us.
Update - 01 November 2023
Our plan has always been focused on protecting the ability to publish to X without increasing the price of our subscriptions. As we can no longer sustain an Enterprise agreement cost without passing it on to our customers, we are aiming to transition to the Pro plan on or shortly after November 14th. This should allow us to continue providing publishing to X at no additional cost for the time being.
However, to continue supporting publishing to X, we've had to make the difficult decision to stop supporting all X/Twitter functionality but publishing. We will be looking to remove this functionality on or around 14 November 2023.
