[Update] Instagram Authentication Flow - 15 September 2023
Yesterday without any notice, Meta made an update to their Instagram connection flow which caused an issue for some users adding and reconnecting Instagram accounts. We’ve since made an update to our Instagram authentication flow to add the newly required permission, and that will require a reconnection. This update was necessary to continue connecting with Instagram profiles that are connected to a Facebook Page that your user has access to via Business Manager.
When choosing either to reconnect, or add a new Instagram account, you will be prompted to accept the following permission:
Click the ‘Continue’ button, and then you will be taken back to Sendible and any previously connected accounts showing they needed to be reauthorised will now be reconnected, and you can connect any other Instagram profiles that you need as well. Once you’ve confirmed your accounts are reconnected or connected any new Instagram accounts, you can click the ‘Done’ button at the bottom, and your profiles will be connected!
If you do not see your Instagram profile listed within the options available, please confirm that:
- Your Instagram profile is connected to a Facebook Page that you have access to
- Your Instagram profile is a Professional profile (Creator or Business Account)
If you are still experiencing issues finding your Instagram account, the next place to check is Facebook’s Business Integration section.
Please log in to the Facebook account that has access to the page that’s connected to the Instagram you’re having issues with connecting. Next, navigate to the Business Integrations area here https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools&ref=settings
Find the ‘Sendible Business’ integration, and click ‘View and Edit’. If you have an Instagram profile that hasn’t had access shared with Sendible, you’ll see a list of all of your available Instagram profiles. We recommend you click the ‘-’ next to ‘Instagram Accounts’ to turn it into a checkmark and select all profiles. This will not add these profiles to Sendible automatically but will confirm the strongest connection between Sendible and Instagram.
Please complete this for every section where the Instagram accounts are listed, then click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the screen. Once complete, please try to connect your Instagram account again.
